Blending Music and Art with Prayer
Art & Prayer
Every few weeks, we put up a fresh, clean set of "art walls" in the AHOP prayer room -- sheets of butcher paper that stretch from floor to ceiling. As people flow in and out of the prayer room, they gradually fill up the art walls -- recording their prayers, adding scriptures and praises, and drawing pictures (with varying degrees of skill!) Design adds to design until the art wall is deemed finished, taken down, rolled up, and stored. Here are a few examples from recent prayer room sessions.

Music & Prayer
We draw on the rich history of blending music and singing with prayers, stretching back to the Tabernacle of David (e.g. 2 Chronicles 16), the Psalms (e.g. Psalm 149), and John's depiction of the four living creatures before the throne of God ( Rev 5:8). Prayer communities past and present also inspire us, from the spontaneous hymn sings of the Moravians in the 1700s, to the Biblical chants of Taize in France, to the Harp & Bowl prayer that continues day and night in Kansas City.
